Every day we help SME’s export and import their goods by air and ocean freight between the UK, Far East and USA.
How did you find out about emita and what benefits do you find the most valuable?
Mike Stokes from Exportential Limited introduced us to EMITA.
The most valuable benefit to being a member is the continuous learning opportunity the monthly meetings bring us. We also find the group discussions at these meetings useful as there is always a great pool of knowledge and experience in the room.
How long has your company been active in the export / import market and which countries do you currently trade with?
Our clients mainly trade with the USA and Far East.
What made you decide to expand your business overseas?
By the very nature of what we do our business is international and I’ve spent the last 25 years travelling and building relationships with overseas partners. We see this as being critical to the on-going success of our business.
What has been your biggest exporting / importing challenge?
International transport is challenging because it’s made up of many component parts and relies on everyone in the process doing their part correctly. The majority of our time is spent making sure that the process works so the goods are delivered on time, on budget and in good condition.
What’s the most helpful piece of international trade advice you have received?
You get what you pay for! Over the years I’ve seen so many companies try to cut corners, do things cheaply and not spend time planning at the outset.
What does the future hold? Any particular markets you are looking to target next?
We like a challenge and have a lot of experience in moving large pieces of machinery and would definitely like to see this area of our business expand further.
